Cynthia Hellen is a globally recognized, Peruvian-American social entrepreneur, writer-producer-director, & design technologist, creating innovative solutions for global problems.
She is the Founder and CEO of SMPLCT Lab (pronounced “simplicity lab”) an innovation lab based in New York, designing sustainable products, services and experiences for people and planet.
Hellen is a U.S. Department of State “Technology Expert” where she travels worldwide engaging and speaking to local community members on entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability. She is an Entrepreneur-In-Residence (EIR) at Trepcamp, where she leads online and in-person class activities, discussions and lectures with the purpose of developing the next generation of high-impact entrepreneurs. Currently, Hellen serves as the Chapter Leader of New York Women Social Entrepreneurs (NYWSE), a nonprofit providing tools, training, & resources that women need to succeed as business leaders.
Hellen regularly gives keynote speeches and hosts workshops at conferences, corporations, universities, nonprofits, and community groups on women entrepreneurship, “frugal” innovation, social entrepreneurship and sustainability worldwide. In 2019, she became a Business Mentor for Santander X, a platform promoting talent through the global community of university entrepreneurship. In 2018, she became a prestigious scholarship recipient of Reality Impact, a Schusterman Initiative. In 2017, she was honored with the “Mayor’s Award for Outstanding Civic Contribution” for her work in entrepreneurship and technology. In 2016, she was honored with the “Phenomenal Women Award” by Baruch College for her leadership and commitment as an entrepreneur. Her work has been profiled nationally and internationally. She mentors’ undergrads to graduate students from Princeton University, Columbia University, Columbia Business School, Athena Center for Leadership Studies at Barnard College, Harvard University and Harvard Business School.
