James DeHart
James DeHart was appointed as U.S. Coordinator for the Arctic Region in July 2020. He is a career member of the Senior Foreign Service with 28 years of experience as a U.S. diplomat. He holds the rank of Minister Counselor, serving notably in Afghanistan, Australia, Belgium, Turkey, and Norway. He brings significant experience in regional security, civilian-military cooperation, and international negotiations.

 

Dr. Michael Sfraga
Dr. Mike Sfraga is the Director of the Polar Initiative at the Woodrow Wilson Center. Sfraga is a geographer with a focus on the geography of Arctic landscapes, Arctic policy, and the impacts and implications of a changing climate on the social and political regimes in the Arctic. Sfraga previously served as Vice Chancellor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks (UAF), faculty member, department chair, and Associate Dean in the UAF School of Natural Resources and Extension.

 

Dr. Philippe Archambault, PhD
Dr. Philippe Archambault is the Co-Scientific Director of the Canadian Network of Centers of Excellence, ArcticNet. As a Quebecer and marine biologist, his work links fundamental biodiversity questions and theoretical research on global change and its effects on ecosystems functioning to applied science and policymaking. Dr. Archambault is strongly engaged in training the next generation of marine scientists.
