Due to the global pandemic the 12th Annual HBCU Foreign Policy Conference take will be hosted 100% virtually online for the first time in history. The annual conference will introduce African-American students and their influencers to foreign affairs and the important work of the Department at home and abroad. Along with remarks from Department principals, students will participate in virtual foreign policy and career panel discussions with State Department employees. A networking lunch is supported by GTM, ECA, White House, the Thursday Luncheon Group, USAID, and other collaborating partners. During the afternoon, participants will join breakout sessions on regional and thematic foreign policy topics.
Participation in the Conference demonstrates support for the Department’s diversity and inclusivity efforts, inspire African-American students to pursue careers at the State Department, and inform the audience of key foreign policy issues. The HBCU Foreign Policy Conference advances the White House Initiative on HBCUs.
